Dewi has continued
to extensively educate himself vocationally throughout his career.
Since completing his degree, Dewi has taken part in numerous industry
courses with the aim of improving his skills base.
Dewi has attended National Film and Television School (London)
specialist courses concentrating on the legal and financial aspects of
producing feature films and running a production company, which led to
teaching work on production techniques on some short courses there and
in Wales. Dewi has also taken part in producer training courses at
Raindance in London and with Sgrin in Wales. He is an alumnus of the EU
Media+ Film Business School, Spain, where he was mentored by some of
the world's leading feature film production and distribution figures.
Courses in screenwriting have continued his passion for creating genre
film narrative. Since forming his company Garland Stone Productions,
Dewi has been involved in high end Welsh based business training
schemes such as Entrepreneur Action, dedicated to enabling
entrepreneurial business skills in industries such as the creative
Dewi runs acclaimed courses specialising in Movie Magic Scheduling and Budgeting for Cyfle and BECTU in Wales and London. Dewi has also run these courses at the National Film & Television School Short Course Unit. Dewi now also runs courses in Final Draft software for writers, script editors, and production personnel.
Most recently Dewi has worked with the producers of a high volume, fast turn
around daily TV drama: the resulting workflow incorporates the use of Final
Draft in writing and script editing, to exporting information into Movie
Magic Scheduling for the Production Department in a quick accurate and
Dewi was a regular visiting lecturer at The International Film School Wales, at undergraduate and masters levels. Dewi's role as a visiting lecturer on the masters' degree in Film Producing and Business Management at the Film Academy, University of Glamorgan grew to being a major contributor to this post graduate degree. Dewi was responsible for creating much of the content for the world’s first online Masters Degree in Film Producing and Business Management for the University of Glamorgan, where he was subsequently trained in e-learning.
Subsequently Dewi has been recruited by the University of Southern California Film School for their collaborative project with the Royal Jordanian Film Commission - The Red Sea Institute for Cinematic Arts, based in Jordan (www.rsica.edu.jo). Dewi has been promoted to Head of Production for the 150+ student films made there every year, along with running the Producing Department. on the two year MFA course. In this short time, many of his student’s films have won major international awards, and his concentration students have gone on to produce a number of feature films in the region. In 2010 the Hollywood Reporter named RSCIA as one of the top ten film schools outside the USA.
